Make Your Own Mr. Men
Mr. Men and Little Miss are series of children’s books that have always been very popular amongst the kids. Simple stories, with bright-colored illustrations, have fascinated millions of children. Moreover, the amazing and interesting characters of Mr. Men series have never failed to evoke keen interest among the toddlers.
Each character is unique and is named after a particular personality or emotion. Their appearance, actions and other characteristics represent that personality. If you have a creative mind and want to make your own Mr. Men character then go for the one that does not exist. Go for a personality that is really unique and think how you
would like your character to represent that particular personality.
Following are some of the guidelines that will help you to make your own Mr. Men character.
Steps for Making Your Mr. Men
- Firstly decide which personality or emotion you would like to showcase through your character. It will be really creative if you select something that has not been represented earlier. You can try out a character resembling yourself or any other person whom you would like to draw.
- Once you decide upon the character that you would like to caricature, think about the shapes that would well-justify the appearance of the person. The Mr. Men characters are comprised of different geometric shapes; round shapes are the most prominent ones. You need not strictly go by the shapes of the already existing characters. In fact try to experiment with shapes and go for shapes that match with personality you have chosen.
- Now you can start to draw the different body structures of the character like face, legs, arms etc. Moreover, while drawing its hair, outfit, facial expression and other features, make sure that they represent the name that you have selected for the character. For instance, the original characters of Mr. Men like Mr. Tall have long legs and Mr. Bump is covered in bandages. Similarly even your character’s name must have some association with the characters appearance.
- If you want to draw a character with a cranky face, you can name him as Mr. Grumpy. Similarly you can go for diverse characters, with different structures and expressions. But do not forget to give an appropriate name to them that well represents their attributes.
- Once you are done with your drawing, go for coloring the character. Make sure that you select the right color for your Mr. Men
because that will make it more attractive and interesting. It is always better to go for a single solid color. The color you select must well represent the name and the personality. For instance, Mr. Sunshine can be colored yellow and Mr. grumpy can be given some pale color.
