How to Write an Essay

It all depends on the writer of the essay as to whether he perceives it as a form of art or just as an incredible chore. While writing an essay the writer has to be sure of the fact that he has to be clear his in thought process and has to be straight forward in the points mentioned by him in his essay. The writer also has to take care that his essay doesn’t bore the readers and keeps them engrossed throughout the body text. One can think of an essay similar to a short story and then contemplate about keeping the text in the essay properly organized and engrossing. While writing an essay one has to keep certain points in mind. These points will surely help a person to write a better and interesting essay. The points to be kept in mind while writing an essay are as follows:

• First of all you have to think about the topic of the essay before writing it. Incase you have not been given any pre-decided topics; you can choose some topic which can turn out interesting for the readers. Always think of writing a different point of view in your essay. Try and think different from the usual and ordinary while writing. This can really make your essay stand out in a crowd.
• You shall also have to think and analyze whether you are writing an argumentative essay or just a plain non biased essay. This will make things easier for you while jotting down the points of the topic.
• Before writing the body text you can write a thesis statement for the essay which can help its readers know about the actual theme of the essay.
• The next step after mentioning the thesis statement of the essay, you have to move towards the outline of your essay. Here you have to keep in mind that there are two types of outlines i.e. the structural outline and the thematic outline. You have to include both of these outlines in your essay. Think about all the themes that you wish to write about in the essay. After deciding on this, you have to think about the pattern in which one paragraph will build up to another. This is known as the structural outline in an essay. You will notice that by outlining your essay structurally, you can help yourself if you are writing any long essay or a thesis of any kind. Outlining an essay includes writing the header for a particular paragraph and then its subsequent sub headings. For the main topics you can mention roman numerals and for the sub headings you can use alphabets in small letters (a, b, c etc.)
• Always make sure that whatever facts or figures you are mentioning in your essay should be well researched for. Incase you are an amateur in essay writing; it is advised that you choose a topic that you are comfortable writing at. However if you are well experienced in essay writing, you should choose such a topic on which you can easily research.
• Now you can start writing the actual body text of the essay. Write down an introductory paragraph by taking into account all the above mentioned parameters like thesis statement, structural outline and research. Make sure that your first paragraph is just like a teaser for the readers that will make them tempt to read the whole essay. To conclude the essay, you can mention something interesting that makes your essay worth reading.
