How to Write a Novel

How to Write a Novel How to Write a NovelTo write a novel is just like any other writing but there are certain skills which an individual should learn and adapt before writing it effectively. This is because it might be easy to write a novel but it is equally tough to scribble a good one. If we go by the literal meaning, then a novel is a fictional prose narrative of considerable size or length. It describes about a plot or an incident that is unleashed by speech, actions and thoughts meant to narrate the characters.

But there a few important factors which an individual should know while writing a novel. These points are discussed in brief in the following steps: -

  • An individual should plot or figure out a story before starting to write a novel. This is because to develop a full fledged plot some basic ideas should be highlighted. Even if you fail to concoct a plot, there are relevant softwares that will enable you to develop the baseline for writing a novel.
  • While starting with the initial process, an individual should at least try and write a summary in couple of sentences for the plot or a story. This approach is not always easy but essential enough to write a good novel.
  • Now an individual should put an effort to expand that summary of sentences into a paragraph. But make sure that the subsequent paragraphs should describe the basic plotline of your novel. Later as the content flows, you can add details to the major conflicts exclusively and also encode the final resolution. It is advisable to use query letters for making the summary for this paragraph.
  • To grab the interest of a reader it is found that a one page summary for each character holds the key behind a good novel. But you should include your story line with immediate goal, motivation, resolution and a conflict to add more depth in the character.
  • It is recommended to write several paragraphs of narration for every single scene depicted in the story or a plot. Besides dialogue writing adds more life to any novel based on a concocted tale or real incident. Such an approach holds the essence behind any good novel writing skill.
  • An individual should somehow keep a record of any ideas that flashes into his mind. He should make a habit to scribble it instantly on any piece of writing material. This is because the same idea might not appear later to make the story more strong and readable.
  • For proper writing an individual should avoid using too many stock phrases or clichés. Although they have their importance while writing a novel but excessive use of the same can make the entire story impractical and boring.

These are the fundamental points that an individual should pursue while writing a good novel. Besides it is also on their creative skill as to how they plot the theme and make the novel interesting. But at the same time an individual should never lose hope or get depressed if his initial process of writing a novel fails to impress all his readers.
