How to Write a Graduation Speech
Giving a graduation speech is considered as an honor. You have to be very careful while giving a graduation speech by not including any sort of clichés or messages in it. If your speech is able to inspire and show your appreciation towards the listeners, then it can be claimed as an effective graduation speech. Since everyone gets just one chance in their lives for giving a effective graduation speech, you have to make it special. - You can start your speech by mentioning a particular incident or a story which has helped you to reach your present position. You can also mention any anecdote if you want. However, including a story which has in it the other members of your school can really prove to be effective.
- Try to include some accomplishments or achievements related to your school in the speech. This might include how successfully the school had raised $5000 for old people or how mightily your school had beaten the rival football team.
- Always remember that your speech should be short and sweet. Do not elongate or exaggerate the incidents or events that you are mentioning as it might take up a lot of time and end up in boring your audience. You also have your friends in line who are going to giver their speeches after you, so be brief.
- Try not to pull the limelight towards yourself while giving your graduation speech. By talking about yourself, you might get projected as bragging or exaggerating. You should rather try and focus the attention on your friends, family, teachers and the school. This will go a long way in making your
graduation speech really effective. - Your graduation speech should be written by only you. You should not depend on anyone else who can write it out for you. This is because the speech should include all the feelings that you have experienced in the school and therefore you should be the only person who should write it out. Let the speech include all original sentences and nothing copied or borrowed from someone else’s speech. You can include some quotes or phrases sparingly in your speech.

- Do not forget to thank all those people who have really helped you in graduating. - After having written down your speech, try reading it aloud for 3 to 4 times. Reading the speech aloud will make any grammatical errors visible.
