How to Update your Relationship Status on Facebook

Facebook is used by most of the users to track the latest details of their contacts. As the busy work schedule hardly allows people to communicate with their loved ones, they use Facebook to know about the current status of their contacts. The wall option also makes it very much convenient for users to let all their contacts know about specific status update simply by doing a small change in your profile. It allows you to share your current status as well as anything food or bad that has affected your life recently. You can use the various options offered by the popular social networking website to inform your friends about the changes in your life including relationship status. The simple update options can be used to inform your friends if you have found someone special in your life or even if you have an unfortunate break up with your ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend. Whenever your friends will log in to Facebook, they can immediately come to know about the current update in your relationship status.

Instructions

Open the website Facebook.com in a web browser, and log in using your email address and password. After signing in successfully to the website, you will be redirected to your home page.
Click on the Profile button appearing at the top right corner of your home screen. In the profile page click on the Edit Profile button being displayed at the top right corner of the page.
Click on the Features People link appearing at the left had side of the Edit My Profile Page.
In the page you have option to update your relationship status. The default value will be Single. But you can change the status based on your wish to in a relationship, married, engaged, widowed, separated and divorced. You have further options to select the relationship status to it’s complicated and in an open relationship.
It also allows you to mention the other person involved in the relationship. You can select the other person if you have not selected the status as widowed, separated and divorced. Once you enter the name other person, it will show you a list of contacts matching with the name. If he/she does have a a profile on Facebook, you can select her profile from the list of displayed results.
If you select the Facebook profile of your partner, his/her profile will be displayed along with your updated relationship status. It will provide some additional information about the other person along with the current status of your relationship. Your contacts can also view her profile and details simply by clicking on her photo appearing next to your relationship status.
Facebook also allows users to link their current profile along with the profile of their other family members. You can enter the name of the person in the textbox and select the relationship from the drop down box appearing next to it. However, the same need to be confirmed by the respective family member before appearing inside you profile.
After updating you relationship status, click on the Save Changes button appearing below the form. It will update the relationship status and display the same to people visiting your profile.
