How to Restore Deleted Contacts
Sometimes we delete a contact by mistake, or simply when we don’t communicate with them for a long time. Also there are a few contacts like ex-colleagues with whom you lose touch after quitting the job. So when you don’t see any probability of communicating with them again, you remove them from your contact list. But you should be careful while deleting the contacts as there are a few mail systems which do not provide any option to restore the contacts deleted by you. However, there are some systems which allow you to restore your deleted contacts within a stipulated time.
Instructions
If you are using Windows Live Hotmail
Windows Live Hotmail provides an option to restore the deleted contacts within 30 days from the date of deletion.
- Open Contacts in Windows Live Hotmail
- Select the Restore deleted contacts option from manage menu
- The restore deleted contacts page will show you the email ids of contacts deleted by you in a list. You can select the individual email addresses and click on Restore option to get the contact restored. If you want to restore back all the contacts deleted by you, you can click on the Restore all button.
If you are using Gmail
Gmail does not provide any direct option to restore your deleted contacts. So you have to use an alternate method to restore the deleted person’s email address.
- If you have taken a backup copy of your contacts by exporting them to a .csv file, you can search the old .csv file to get details of the deleted contact.
- You can find the email address of your deleted contacts in your sent emails which are saved by Google in Sent Mail folder. But either you have to check all the emails individually or search for the specific mail address or search all mails by entering some criteria like the contact’s name.
If you are using Yahoo! Mail
In Yahoo! Mail when you delete a contact it is moved to Deleted Contacts. But the information remains there only for a month since the date of deletion. So you have an option to restore your deleted contact within 30 days from deleting it.
- Click on the View button above the contact names list and select Deleted Contacts.
- A list of contacts will appear in checkbox list format without showing any other details except their names. You can click on the checkbox and check the contact you want to restore.
- Click on the Restore button. A dialog box will ask confirmation by asking whether you want to restore these contacts to your Yahoo! Contacts. Click on the Restore button and the contact will be restored. You can now view the details of the restored contact listed in your contact list.
