How to Remove Wax from Clothing
You have prepared mouth-watering delicacies for your loved one for a romantic candle-lit dinner and oops… the candle tilts sideways dropping the liquid wax on your favorite dress. Wondering how to remove wax from clothing? Don’t worry! Getting wax doesn’t mean that you can’t use the garment again; it is easy to clean it off and make the clothing usable again. Wax doesn’t damage the cloth, but you have to be careful while removing it so that it can come out without causing any harm to the material. Here are some of the effective answers for how to remove wax from clothing.
- Wax dries faster. When you get wax on your clothing, you have to wait till it is completely dry. Use a dull kitchen knife to scrape away as much wax as you can so that it can be easier for you to remove the remaining part of the wax. Then place the cloth or fabric on an ironing board and adjust the regulator of the iron according to the fabric. Place a brown paper bag on the top of the wax and another one below the clothing. Now, press the wax with the help of heat iron through the paper bag. The wax will melt easily and will get transferred to the fabric and will get absorbed by the brown paper. Shift the cleaner part of the paper bag to place on the wax stain and again press the wax till the brown paper doesn’t absorb the stain of wax. This is the best way to remove wax and even its sticky stain. In case you don’t get brown paper bag, you can use newspaper in place of it.

- Soak the clothing that has gotten wax on it in the water for sometime. Boil up water in a kettle. Place the clothing in such a way the part of clothing with wax-stain remains hanging into a sink or a bowl. Pour the boiling water in the kettle in such a manner that it runs through the wax stained section into the sink or bowl without touching the rest of the cloth. Immediately, put the clothing into washing machine or hand wash it, whichever is suitable. Also, you can take a wet washcloth and place it on the area that has the wax stain. Iron the washcloth with a medium to high setting and you will find the wax gone from your clothing.
- If you have dropped colored wax on your clothes, you may find colored stains after the wax is removed from the clothes. In such cases, you need to apply the techniques of removing the colors of the wax along with techniques for how to remove wax from clothing. Dissolve some oxygen-based cleaner in warm water and rub the water on the stained area with the help of a wooden spoon. Then wash the clothing in the usual process. But, remember not to dry it until the stain is completely removed. If the color of the fabric is white you can bleach the area and wash immediately.
- You can also place the clothing with wax stain inside the freezer to make the wax bristle. Then remove the wax and use hot iron to remove the stain.
