How to Read Snare Music

How to Read Snare Music How to Read Snare MusicBefore reading snare music you should know that the snare is a sort of drum which is played basically at the time of marching. There are specific beats of this drum which you have to follow in order to understand the rhythm. The drum is smaller in size and before you plan to pick up such a drum you must know how to read the music well.

  1. You have to keep in mind that the snare drum is the most important section in the whole drum set. The person who is playing the snare has a great role to accomplish. He is the one who serves with the back beat of the band. He should make sure to play all the notes carefully at perfect timings.
  2. At first you need to have an overall music sheet given to you for a snare drum. The musical notation in case of a snare drum would be given to you in simple musical note and this you would find at the center of the page looking like a conventional bar of music. It is going to be just a simple note which you can find on the third line at the center of the bar.
  3. Then it is time for you to search for a cross-stitching note method. In step 2 you would find this note with an X mark and it comes in shape of hallow musical note. You would generally find this at the center of the music bar.
  4. You must never forget that the best place to look for the notes of the snare drum would be the bar at the middle. It is surely the third line both from the top and the bottom. This is important to know as you have the notes of other drum types as well.
  5. You should make sure to notice the differences in following a piano sheet music as well as a drum sheet music. Thus, if a person who plays a piano is given to play a snare drum he may become confused. He can read music clearly but the notes are devoid of sharps and flats and this is the reason why he cannot read the music well. For the snare drum you should always follow the notes on the center line.
  6. You have to make separate blocks for the drum notations. This is the time when it would be easy for you to follow the pattern of the rhythm. In this way you are sure to understand the drumming better. When you have mastered the rhythms pattern well nothing else would seem difficult to you.

A snare drum is different from any ordinary drum. It comes with special beats and musical patterns. This is the reason the notes are presented differently so that you can read the music well. However, it is not so that if you can read the notes of other musical instruments well you can do the same in case of snare drum notes. In this case the rules are definite and different.
