How to Put Music on a PSP
So you have got yourself a PSP and would like to know how to put music on it. It is quite simple even for those who don’t have much knowledge about these gadgets. It is quite normal for you to want to fill your PSP with as many songs as possible. But you need to know a few things before you can put music on it. There are not many requirements for putting music but it is important to know the specifications before setting out to do the task.
- The only things you need are the PSP, a computer, a mini USB cable and some MP3 files.
- The first thing you have to do is format the memory stick. For this, scroll to system settings and click on the “X” button. This will take you to the option “format memory stick”. You have to select “X” again. The system will then prompt you if you want to really format the memory stick. Selecting “Yes” and clicking on “X” will complete the process. Now you have created folders in the PSP to store your music, movies and games.
-
The next consideration is the size of the memory stick. A 32MB memory stick is the default size that comes with every PSP. This can only carry six or seven songs of the usual quality. If you want to store more songs, you have to opt for a larger memory stick. You can choose up to 4GB memory sticks which can store quite a lot of songs on your PSP. - The next step is to transfer the songs on the PSP. For this, you can connect the mini USB cord with the PSP on one side and to the computer on the other side. After this, choose the USB connection on the PSP and click “X”. You will then be prompted about your next Windows action on the computer. Here you have to choose “open folder to view files using window explorer”.
- A new window will open up which will show you the contents of the memory stick. By double-clicking on the folder named “PSP” will pave the way for another folder called “Music”. This is the place where you have to load your music files. If you are using the regular firmware version, then you can load MP3 songs. If you have a later version, then you can add WMV files too.
- Then the task is pretty easy. Copy and paste the songs to the folder. After loading all the songs, press the circle on the PSP to get out from the USB connection. Then go to the music option on xmb menu on the PSP. You can now listen to all your favorite songs.
Now that you have learnt how to put music on a PSP, you can keep uploading new songs and deleting the old ones. Its just the way to have fun and keep enjoying.
