How to Put Contacts
Keeping your eye and vision safe is no doubt extremely important. It is probably god’s greatest gift to man. This is why eye care is equally important. One should never ever take the safety of eyes lightly. Contact lens or more popularly called contacts can be either worn to correct your vision or to have a different eye color. But no matter for whatever reason, you want to wear contact lens, you should be still careful about wearing them. Otherwise you would be susceptible to eye infections which can cause serious problems at times
There are basically two types of contact lens, one is corrective contact lens and cosmetic or therapeutic lenses. Also there are use and throw ones while regular wear contact lenses that you can buy at a good ophthalmologist. For those who wear contact lenses for the first time always face problem while putting them on. So, one must learn how to put on contacts without hurting the eyes.
Before you set about buying contact lenses, you must visit an ophthalmologist to get your eyes tested. You must know whether or not you need corrective lenses at the same time, whether cosmetic lenses would suit your eyes or not. After getting the required information on your eye sight and needs, you ca buy a pair of contact lenses. Some people tend to have itchy eyes due to contacts and one should avoid wearing lenses in such a scenario.
Now that you have bought your contacts and you are ready to wear them, here is a list of steps to guide on how to put them on. Get yourself hand wash, a soft towel that doesn’t have lint, a mirror, contact solution, and finally your contact lenses.
Steps to put on contact lenses
- Wash your hands well with an antiseptic liquid or hand wash. Wash properly to avoid any soap remaining in your hands. And wipe off your hands with a towel.
- When you buy contact lenses, you get the lens box that says left and right and you must always remember to replace your lenses to their right box only.
- Check if the contacts are in right condition or not. You must make sure that the lenses are not inside out when you wear them.
- Use the contact solution to clean these lenses. Be very careful with them as they are soft and can tear with your nails or dirt.
- You can put on the contact lenses once you are done with cleaning. You must look upwards and place the lenses in the middle and look down slowly to fit them well to your eyes.
Tips:
- Avoid using tissues or even toilet papers to wipe up your hands.
- Put lens on the same eye first as a rule, this way you would not end up wearing the wrong one in the wrong eye.
- Using both hands while putting on contacts always helps. So pull down your lids with one hand and put the lens on.
