Whether it’s Jim Furyk or Tigerwoods, it’s really fascinating to watch these golf aces hit strokes with their clubs in the greens of golf course. Golf is a ball sport where golfers attempt to hit balls into the holes in the golf course, in the fewest number of strokes. It is an interesting game where each player has his own style. Though every golfer has his own playing technique, there are some fundamentals that bind all the players. If you are new to the game and want to know about the basic fundamentals of the game or how to play the game, then following instructions can be helpful to you:
Instructions
There are basically three things that you need to focus while playing golf. Once you master the three requirements of the game, you can definitely become a good golfer. Following are the vital factors that you must consider:
Aim
You must keep your aim/target very focused. Golf is all about target and aiming. Even a right stroke or perfect swing aligned incorrectly can send the ball towards the wrong direction, thereby missing the aimed hole. Hence, to avoid this swing based alignment drawback, it is always better to align feet, knees, hips and shoulders parallel left to the target line. This tactic is followed by many elite and successful golfers.
Stance
The stance is the very foundation for the correct swing. For an effective swing you need mobility and stability. The stance would differ depending upon the length of the club. If you have a longer club, shoulder width stance is good. You can measure this from the outside of the shoulder down to the in step. For short irons, hip width stance is better. You can measure this from the outside of the hips to the instep. Stance width is very important for maintaining a stable base and good swing.
Ball position
Ball positioning is another important factor that you must pay attention to. Ball positioning is placement of the golf ball in relation to the position of your feet. Positioning the golf ball correctly in your stance is vital for a great shot. Beginners must start by learning where the ball is in relation to their feet and also how far away the ball is from the feet. The ball placement varies with the size of the club you select. For instance, for longer clubs two balls toward the target-side foot from center is most suitable. Learn more about the ball positioning from http://golf.about.com/od/golftips/ss/golf_setup_3.htm
Golf is said to be a gentleman’s game, hence always remember not only to follow the written rules of the game but also to show etiquettes and follow un-written rules of the course. For instance, you should never walk through a golfer’s putting line.
