You have to start by setting up the card tables. All you need to have is three tables with four chairs each. All individuals who will be playing the game would need to have a tally sheet, a bunco pencil and a bunco score sheet. Make sure that each of the three tables has three dice set on it. You shall have to establish one table as the head table which will hold the bell and the fuzzy dice/bunco hat.
As there are no regular partners in the game of bunco therefore whoever sits across to you is viewed as your temporary partner for that particular time. Bunco begins when someone from the head table rings the bell and also calls out the number which is being played. For example: the first roll is one then all tables will begin playing bunco at the same time. Each table’s first player gets to roll all the three dice and also earns a point for each dice rolled. This way the play will continue with that particular player till he/she no longer rolls out a one.
When the first player stops rolling a one, the dice can be passed on to the next player and then it is that player’s goal to roll out ones as well. Whenever any player rolls out three ones, he/she shouts “bunco”. That player also receives the fuzzy dice/bunco hat and earns 21 points in the bunco score card. One can also earn a “mini bunco” by rolling out three of a kind of any other number. In the case of a mini bunco the player gets to add 5 points to his/her bunco score card.
Whenever one of the three teams reach a score of 21, someone from the head table has to ring the bell loudly. This indicates everyone to stop playing and trade places and tables with one another. Incase you are in the losing table then the person who was sitting across from you will move with you to the next table but will he/she cannot be your partner for the next roll. If you are the winning team, either you or your partner will move over a seat thereby making room for new partners from the other table.
After the settling down of players the head table rings the bell again and the game begins in the same way as explained above. However this time you shall be rolling out two’s. This has to be repeated till you are through with all the numbers from 1 to 6.
