How to Play Bridge
We all are familiar with the fifty two cards that comprise a pack excluding the jokers and the different games associated with it. There are various small and admired games in cards that are frequently played amongst friends and players. Few names of these games from the stack are rummy, cold bridge, 7 card studs, spades, cold bridge, gin rummy 5 card studs, and solitaire etc. There are also some games which a person can play all alone or without a partner or a player. This is one of the most added advantages which lie in the game of cards. But all the games played with a pack of card or two have dome definite rules and instructions which an individual should be aware of before playing.
In here we discuss about the popular game called as bridge which needs at least four players to play with. There are even a few categories of bridge. These are Rubber Bridge which is also denoted to be the fundamental form of Contract Bridge and requires at least four players to start the game, Duplicate Bridge which can be played only if there is at least eight players on the table together and finally the Chicago another version of Bridge played amongst four people with four different unique deals. The rules, tricks and tips are discussed below in brief under relevant subheads: -
Arranging and Setting Up
Decide amongst the players as to who will become or take the role of the scorer. Using a pen or a markers draw a cross or make quarters on a piece of paper. Make at least two columns one for the partners and the other for the opponents. Sit diagonally like South and North are in one group while West and East fall in the other. Shuffle and start spreading the cards from the left of the one who is dealing or arranging the cards. Make sure each player get equal number of thirteen cards from the pack of fifty two cards.
Bidding and Responding
Bidding is often used and is considered as a term in the language or idiom of bridge. The four players, individually decides about the bidding to be made on “notrump” or in a particular trump suit before appearing to a common decision. The dealer gets the opportunity to make the first bid of the game. If the dealer has some higher numbered or valued card, he gets another preference to make the next bid but has to ask his partner before going for one. But instead he is not willing to have the bidding done for the subsequent turn then he can simply roll the turn saying “pass.” Bids are often and should always be made according to the hierarchy or the pecking order of suits or cards. As because there is a definite sequence which needs to be strictly followed in a game of bridge where clubs have the highest priority followed by diamonds, hearts, spades and finally “notrump”. The responders often addressed as the partners f a team while playing the game of bridge too have an important position and holds responsibilities as well. The opening bidder or the dealer describes his hand to his partner for selecting the captain. As soon as the partner behaves and hold the role of a captain can also hold the deciding the best denomination and the appropriate level for the final contract in this level of the game of cards. But the bidder actually holds more strength as compared to the combined efforts of the responder or his partner.
