How to Plan a November Wedding
So you have decided on your big day and it happens to be in November! Though bright summer months are the traditional season for weddings, there is no reason why you can’t make your autumn wedding special. With some amount of advance planning and creative ideas, your November D-day can turn out to be just perfect. Here are some ideas to help you on how to plan a November wedding.
- November can be one of the busiest months of the year with the holiday season just around the corner and people busy in wrapping up year-end events and activities. If you have decided to get married in November, you would require to plan months in advance. Ensure that invitations to your guests are sent well ahead of time so that they can block their dates and not make any alternate holiday plans.
- With Thanksgiving at the end of the month, you can expect many parties happening during that time. Finalize your wedding venue well beforehand so that you don’t lose out on your favorite restaurant or party hall. Considering the unpredictable weather during this time, it would make sense to have an indoor wedding and reception. But if you are keen on the outdoors, make sure you have arrangements for sufficient heaters. Canopies would be needed in case of rains.
- A fall themed wedding will be apt for this time of the year. Bright oranges, yellow and deep red are the perfect colors for this season. Traditional symbols for autumn are cornucopias, pumpkins and gourds. You can even add these colors and designs into your invitation card for a real feel of November.
- A wedding in autumn generally has the bride dressed in a diamond white or ivory white gown. However, you are always free to go for a colored gown if you feel that complements you better.
- Design your wedding reception with some creative centerpiece ideas and flower arrangements. You can create a real nice look and feel of your wedding through a choice of vibrant colors and flavors. Tiny pumpkins can be used as place markers and you can decorate small pumpkins and place them around the room. For the centerpiece choice, you could place seasonal fruits in a decorative bowl in the center of the table or have smaller bowls at each end of the table.
- Plan on a hearty menu for the wedding reception. If the chill has already set in, a hot filling meal will be most welcomed by your guests. You can ask the caterer to provide some ideas for seasonal menu options. Try to steer away from the usual turkey and stuffed potatoes, which seem to rule most dinner parties during this season. Include rich red wines in your bar. Spiced wines also provide a special touch.
- Consider giving your reception a snug feel through generous use of candlelights. You can include them in your ceremony, place them as centerpiece and even on the buffet and cake table. This will create a warm glow all over the room.
