How to Paint Fiber Glass

Fiberglass is a strong material that hardens into plastic like material. It can be polished into a smooth surface and painted. If you decide to paint fibre glass use special fiber glass paints, you can then smoothen it even more with sand paper. So here are the special of how to paint fiber glass.

1. Begin by sanding your fiber glass. Use grits of sand paper to polish it. Keep polishing it until you reach a smooth surface. The better you sand your fiberglass the smoother it will be.
2. Once you are done clean your fiber glass with a mild liquid soap. Avoid using turpentine or any sort of spirit.
3. Now rinse it well.
4. Choose a top coat and pick a primer matching the top coat.
5. Acrylic paints are the best for painting fiber glass.
6. Apply a primer coat and sand again.
7. You can use a 120+grit sand paper this time.
8. Once the surface is smooth, wipe it with a dry cloth.
9. Now apply your first coat.
10. Let it dry and apply second coat.
11. Use a roller or a spray gun to get a smooth finish.

You can even get some special fiber glass paints and use your brush to create design on the surface. It just depends on the kind of look and feel you want.
