How to Paint Fake Nails

How to Paint Fake Nails How to Paint Fake NailsYour fake fingernails can be painted just like the original fingernails. But for painting nails you need the combination of right product, proper techniques and a steady hand. You can simply apply polish to fake nails just like the original nails. However, there is a difference in the applying technique as the artificial nails are longer than the natural nails. A wrong painting technique will result in applying too much or too little of the polish on your fake nails and giving the nails a streaky and uneven look. The quality and cost of the nail-polish are also of great significance, because some of the cheaper polishes available in the market contain some harmful chemicals like formaldehyde. You can apply some simple techniques while painting your fake nails so that the polish will be applied in a smooth and evenly manner.

Instructions

  1. Before starting with the painting process, you have to prepare the fake nails for applying a fresh coat of polish. You have to remove all traces of the old polish using a non-acetone polish remover. Avoid using acetone polish removers as the acetone may cause pits on the surface of the nail and produce some uneven polish application.
  2. When there is no trace of the old paint on the nail, you have to buffer the nail if required. With a 3-way buffer you can easily buff any imperfections on the surface of the nail. For applying paint, the nail has to be smooth so that it will produce a better result.
  3. A base coat has to be applied on the fake nails before applying the polish. If polish is applied directly in the nail, it may cause some stains on the nail. The application of the base coat will also formulate to increase the adhesion of the nail polish to provide some longer-lasting results.
  4. After applying the base coat, now you can apply polish. But while applying polish you have to ensure that you are holding the brush in such a manner that the bristles remain parallel to the nail. Now lay the brush flat against the nail and drag the brush slowly away from the cuticles. Instead of applying a number of short strokes, it is preferable to apply few long and smooth strokes with the brush. Allow some time for the polish to dry.
  5. When the first coat of polish has dried up completely, apply a second coat of polish on your fake fingernail.
  6. After applying the second coat of polish, let it dry for some time. Once the second coat of polish has dried up apply a coat of top coat. Normally, top coats are clear polishes which add shine to the fake nail and prevent the polish from chipping.
  7. After applying the top coat, you have to clean the cuticle and edges of the nail. Get a pointed stick and cover its tip with a little piece of cotton soaked in polish remover. Use the stick and erase any polish adhering to the space around the cuticles and edges of the nails. The finishing touch will add to the look of your fake nail and provide it a much better quality painting.
