Painting a ceiling is a simple process if its height is not very high. Incase you have a textured ceiling, which has started to look old and pale due to its age, you can always rely on the idea of repainting the ceiling over its existing texture. So, how do we go about it? We first need to assemble the things required for assisting us this task. They are as follows:

Paint roller pans
Paints
Brushes
Plastic sheeting
Staplers
Rollers
Paint sprayers

The process of painting a textured ceiling has to start with the task of preparing for the painting. This preparation can be done by following the below mentioned steps:

Begin by choosing a particular color of paint for the ceiling. It is always better if you choose any color other than white. However, it entirely depends on your personal taste and liking.
Get down with measuring the area which needs to be covered with paint i.e. the area of the ceiling and then buy the paints from any paint, home improvement or hardware stores.
Do not forget to purchase a masking tape, plastic sheeting, and paint rollers/sprayers while you are purchasing the paints from the store.
Clear the room of any furniture which is present.
Now use the plastic sheeting to cover the floor or any other objects in the room to prevent ant paint stains on them.
Starting from the top, cover about 3 feet of the wall with the plastic sheeting. Use can staple/tape it to its place.
Clean the ceiling properly by vacuuming all the dust and cobwebs. However you will have to remain careful about not dragging the vacuum attachment over the ceiling’s texture directly.
Now is the turn of painting the ceiling. Start this task by deciding whether you want to use a roller or a spray machine. Both these options have their pros and cons. The roller method is cleaner and less messy and hence will save you from putting the plastic sheeting on walls. But it is also a strenuous process and achieving entire coverage by a paint roller is a bit tough. On the other hand, a spray machine consumes less time and succeeds in providing full coverage of paint on the ceiling but it is also very messy.
Incase you are using a roller, use a brush to edge around the ceiling’s circumference and this shall act as a margin for you to paint within. Take a long nap roller and roll paint onto the ceiling. You can apply one or two coats.
Incase you are using a spray paint machine; you will have to cover yourself properly with protective clothing. It is recommended to use a face mask while you are painting with a spray machine. Try and use even strokes and keep the machine at a minimum distance from the ceiling while spraying paint.
