How to Mount Ribbons

How to Mount Ribbons How to Mount RibbonsMost of the students love to display the various medals won by them in various school events like sports, music, and academics. They use the medals to reflect their achievements and performance excellence. The medals can be mounted on a flat surface, simply with the use of spray mounting adhesive or mounting adhesive squares. You can mount these on any chosen surface like canvas board, foam board, walls, or poster board. But select a mounting surface which is much cleaner and covered with a decorative wall paper as it will add to the look of the ribbons after they are mounted. The spray adhesive or adhesive square is commonly available in stores dealing in scrapbooks and hobby items.

Instructions

  1. While using the spray mounting adhesive, keep the nozzle of the can 10 inches away from the back of the ribbon and spray the adhesive to cover the backside of the ribbons completely. The spray will be effective in creating a stronger bond, without creating any stain.
  2. After spraying the adhesive, keep the back of the ribbon pressed to the mounting surface. By pressing the ribbon to the surface, you will allow the liquid adhesive to create a secure bond with the surface during its drying up process. Follow the instructions given by the manufacturer or press the ribbon for around 2-3 minutes to the surface.
  3. Alternately, you can also use mounting adhesive squares for the ribbons. These squares are available in a package, and backed by plastic or paper on both sides to contain the adhesive. You have to select the number of adhesive pieces to be used based on the weight of the ribbon tails. If the ribbon has got decorative or larger tails, you have to use more than one piece of adhesive squares. Before using the square, you have to initially peel off its plastic or paper backing from one side.
  4. Press the backer free side of the adhesive mounting square to the backside of the ribbon. Press four squares by positioning one at both the top center and end of the ribbon, and one at the end of each ribbon tail. You can use more squares based on the requirement and weight of the ribbon.
  5. After attaching the adhesive squares to the ribbon, remove the plastic or paper backings from the other sides of the squares. Press the ribbons onto to mounting surface and keep pressing the ribbons from the front side of the areas, where you have applied the adhesive. Apply light rubs on the area to make the adhesive square form a string bond with the mounting surface.
