How to Mix Oil

How to Mix Oil How to Mix OilA mixture of gasoline and a special 2-cycle motor oil is often required for various small equipments that use 2-cycle engines like lawn mower, weed eater, leaf blowers, chain saws and many more. This mixture is essential for lubricating the engines of the tools. It is very important that you mix the oils in required ratio to prepare a proper lubricant because in case of incorrect mix the equipment can suffer damages.

Most of the equipment manuals mention the exact ratios in which the oils should be mixed. Moreover, there are various on-line guides that offer the required information. Once you know the right method, you can mix the own 2-cycle oil beforehand and store it in a gasoline container for later use, when required.

Following are the instructions that will guide you to prepare the mix of the oils:

Guidelines on How to Mix Oil

  1. Firstly, find out the ideal mixture ratio. You may refer to the owner’s manual or search on-line to get the accurate information. Usually the ratios differ with the equipment. An incorrect ratio mix can damage the spark plugs. So, it is very important to go for the correct mix of the oils.
  2. Once you come to know the correct ratio, try to simplify the mixing process by fragmenting the ratios into ounces. For instance, if the manual states the exact ratio as 32:1, it means that 32 ounces of gasoline for every one ounce of 2-cycle oil.
  3. Now determine how much quantity of mix you actually need. Take a big measuring cup to measure the exact quantities of the oils.
  4. Carefully pour the gasoline into measuring cup and avoid any spilling of the oil. Measure the quantity. It is always better to simplify the process. For instance, if the required ratio is 32:1, then make sure that for every 32 ounces of gasoline you add one ounce of 2-cycle oil. So, now measure 32 ounces of gasoline and pour it into the one-gallon plastic container. Then measure one ounce of 2-cycle oil and pour it into the same container.
  5. Continue the process till you reach the required amount of mix.
  6. Now blend the 2-cycle oil mixture. Close the cap of the one-gallon gasoline container and shake the container back and forth to mix the two liquids together.

Tips

  1. Always check the equipment owner’s manual to know the exact mixture ratio for your equipment engine.
  2. After using the required amount of 2-cycle oil mix, make sure that you store the rest mix in a cool, dry place for later use.
  3. Be careful while pouring the oils into the container and while blending the mix. Make sure you do not spill any oil during these processes.

If you want to prepare an accurate oil mix, then the above mentioned method will be of help to you. So, next time when you plan to mix oils then read these instructions and you are sure to get it right.
