Beef is well suited for all occasions and the taste is just finger licking. While fried, grilled or steamed beef is always an all time favorite, still the prime rib roast is the best for the foodholics. While the prime rib roast is available in plenty in the supermarket, still preparing this delicious dish at home has its own joys. You don’t need to super chef to prepare it. Follow the few easy steps given below to make a superb prime rib roast at home.
Step # 1: The very basic step is to collect the necessary ingredients that are required to make the prime rib roast. The necessary ingredients are Prime Rib, one four-rib beef rib roast with its chin bone removed and whose weight is about seven and half pounds, one teaspoon of Kosher salt, half teaspoon of freshly ground pepper, half teaspoon of dried thyme, a meat thermometer, horseradish cream sauce the Au Jus juice.
Step # 2: The placement of the beef in the oven is very important for the heat to incident on it indirectly. Therefore the rack in the oven is kept in lower third. Then the oven is heated up to one hundred and sixty degree Celsius.
Step # 3: The beef is then trimmed and the excess amount of fat is removed. Then the beef is rubbed with salt, pepper and thyme. It is very important not add water in the oven pan.
Step # 4: A highly calibrated thermometer is then inserted in to the thermometer such that the ends of the thermometer do not touch the walls of the oven. This is to make sure that the thermometer remains in the working condition throughout the whole process.
Step # 5: The beef is then roasted up to two and half hours or until the thermo meter shows the calibration point of fifty five degree Celsius. The beef is then out and left to stand for five to ten minutes in foil.
Step # 6: The next step is the preparation of Horseradish cream. The ingredients necessary to prepare it are half cup of sour cream, two table spoons of prepared horse radish, two teaspoons of chopped shallots and one teaspoon of white balsamic or white wine vinegar salt. Then all the items are mixed together and then refrigerated.
Step # 7: The step is the preparation of Au Jus juice. The ingredients necessary to prepare it are one and half cup of the pan drippings from the roast, three fourth cup of red wine, two cups of beef stock, three tablespoons of unsalted butter and salted and freshly prepared grounded pepper.
Step # 8: First the drippings from the pan are well strained the fat from it is skimmed out. The dripping is then heated in frying pan and stirred by adding red wine. The whole mixture is heated until the quantity reduces to one-third. Then the heat is withdrawn and butter, salt and pepper are added.
Finally the delicious prime rib roast is ready.
