  1. Start with the basic of piano. If you are a fresher start with initial scales like E major, C major and G major. If you already know the piano basic then brush up your piano basics. Emphasize on learning more scales in piano as it will lead to sound your music more original rather than repetitive ones.
  2. Practicing scale notes are very essential. You have to play each scale in eighth note, quarter notes, sixteenth notes and triplets. Play in the ascending manner and once you have practiced the sixteenth note try increasing the metronome.
  3. Harmonization of the scales creates the chords. You have to master the chord of each and every key. You must be aware of the major keys (CDEFGABC) in terms of numbers which is 1234567 as no 8 is same as 1. In this method the major chords are 1, 4 & 5 and the minor chords are 2, 3 & 6. Here the diminished cord is 7. This is the primary formula for learning each key.
  4. Learning minor scales is a must. You should have through knowledge about pentatonic scales and minor scales. For playing jazz pentatonic scales are of great importance. The best way to learn pentatonic is to take the notes 1, 3,5,6,7 from major scales and then the 3 and the 7 from the flat.
  5. Practice the 12 bar pattern in playing the blue music on the piano. You left hand will follow the bass pattern and the right hand will play the major chord. A characteristic bass example for the key of C is C, E, G, A, C, A, G, E. When the chord changes to F you have to change the pattern compatible with the F chord.
  6. Once you master this you will be able to play the chord with the left hand and melodies with the right. This is the time when you done with fundamentals of the chords and the scales. You will be able to learn songs now and you will now have the sense of guessing which tune will fit with which chord and vice versa. Lastly try to play the chords by hearing to the songs.

This is not at all difficult and you will grow a good habit of figuring the keys according to the song and that will help in determination of the structure of the chords. This has to be remembered that piano scales are the basic of any sort of piano music. Learning process is to be practiced repeatedly to be perfect.
