How to Make Paneer Pakoras How to Make Paneer PakorasPaneer is a variation of boiled white cheese very much popular in India. There are a number of delicious Indian dishes using paneer as prime ingredients. The paneer pakors is crispy deep fried snack item normally served with ketchup or spicy chutneys. You can make this dish within 10 minutes using a set of easily available ingredients. After making these pakoras, you can entertain your friends as a crunchy starter as well as a snack with different types of cocktails and drinks.

Recipe I

Ingredients

  • 200 gm or 7 oz paneer
  • 1 cup gram flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala powder
  • coriander leaves, chopped
  • salt
  • vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Place the gram flour, red chili powder, roasted cumin powder, garam masala, and salt and chopped coriander leaves inside a middle sized bowl and mix the ingredients well. Add a little amount of water to these ingredients and beat these well to form a thick and smooth battered paste.
  2. Place the paneer on a flat plate and use a sharp knife to cut these into medium sized and thick square shaped pieces.
  3. Put the vegetable oil into a frying pan and keep it on stove to heat. Reduce the heat once the oil is completely hot and starts boiling.
  4. Dip the paneer pieces into the smooth battered paste and cover it with coat of the mixture.
  5. Stir in the paneer pieces covered with the batter into the frying pan containing hot vegetable oil. Keep deep frying these over a medium heat till the pieces turn golden brown.
  6. Remove the fried pakoras from the oil and serve to your guests with ketchup or spicy chutney.

Recipe II

Ingredients

  • 250 gms of paneer
  • 1 cup of chickpea flour
  • 2 teaspoon of Oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder
  • 1-2 chopped green chilies (Jalapeno)
  • 1/2 cup of Water

Instructions

  1. Place the chickpea flour, oil, salt, chili powder, and water and chopped green chilies inside a bowl and mix these well using a spoon. Transfer the mixture to a blender, and beat for about 4 to 5 minutes. Allow air to be incorporated into the mixture to make it fluffier. Allow the batter to rest for about ½ an hour by keeping in a warmer place.
  2. Transfer the paneer into a place and cut these into thick cubes using a knife. After cutting the paneer, sprinkle salt and chili powder on these cubes to cover the pieces evenly.
  3. Put vegetable oil in a fried pan and heat the oil over medium low heat. Once the oil is heated, dip the paneer pieces into the batter and cover it with coat of the mixture.
  4. Deep fry the covered paneer pieces till the color turns golden brown. Transfer the paneer pakoras from the frying pan and place those on paper towels to drain the additional oil.
  5. Now the paneer pakoras are ready to be served along with ketchup, coriander or mint chutney.
