No family dinners or picnics are complete without a round of deliciously baked chicken. One also has the scope of experimenting with the recipe of baked chicken while making it. In this article we shall know about the basics of baking chicken in an oven. However one is free to change the seasoning as per personal taste and liking. There are certain things that are needed for making a sumptuous baked chicken at home. They are as follows:

  • Olive oil
  • Chicken
  • 2tsp of rosemary
  • 9X13 inch pan
  • Salt and pepper
  • Around 3 cloves of garlic
  • Thermometer

After having gathered all those articles mentioned above, we can now proceed with the making of baked chicken. Have a look at the below mentioned steps that can help you understand the making of baked chicken in a better manner:

  • You shall have to begin by preheating your oven to about 350 degrees. Take a 9×13 inch baking pan and sprinkle some extra virgin olive oil on it. Here it is advised to use a 9×13 inch baking pan because the chicken breasts can easily fit inside the pan of that diameter. You can also choose to take a larger baking pan for this purpose. Basically the focus should be on trying to bake each of the chicken breasts properly. This is the prime reason for which we are using a baking pan of 9×13 inch.
  • Make sure that the chicken breasts are placed properly on the baking pan. Take care to ensure that the chicken breasts have equal space among them. Try and avoid placing the chicken breasts too close to each other as this will result in uneven baking of some portions of the chicken. It is therefore very essential to evenly space the chicken breasts in the baking pan. After having done that, ensure that the portions of the chicken are placed above the extra virgin olive oil that you had sprinkled on the baking pan. Oiling the baking pan before placing the chicken breasts on it is very important as it prevents the sticking of the chicken onto the pan whilst getting baked in the oven.
  • After having properly oiling the baking pan and placing the chicken breasts evenly spaced apart from each other, now is the time for the seasoning. One is free to alter the seasoning as per personal choice and taste. Do remember that baking chicken in the oven at home is all about experimenting with the ingredients. Therefore one can choose that seasoning that suits the taste perfectly. Here we are using rosemary, a little salt and pepper and a bit of chopped garlic to be sprinkled on the top of the chicken breasts. Chopped garlic is used here for giving the baked chicken a roasted garlic flavor after it gets baked. Do not forget to pour in some extra virgin olive oil on top of the seasoning and the chopped garlic. The oil shall help the garlic to roast while the chicken gets baked in the oven.
  • After having done that, take some water and add it to the bottom of the baking dish. The water is used to prevent the chicken from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Another use of water here is that it prevents the chicken portions from drying out while getting baked. Now take the baking pan and place it inside the preheated oven and set the timer for 30 minutes. You can use a thermometer after the completion of 30 minutes to check the doneness of the chicken.
