How to Make my Own Crossword Puzzle

You can always experience and discover new and different strategies with every crossword puzzle. Just as solving crossword puzzles is fun and challenging, making one of your own too can be an enjoyable and tricky activity. So, create your own crossword puzzle and surprise your friends with your intellect and creativity.
Instructions
- Take a piece of graph paper and fill in the boxes therein with words of your choice. Make sure you enter just one letter each square. It is always better to prepare a list of words or a theme before jotting down the words on the graph paper.
- You can fill in the words in either of the directions – up, down, left, or right. All you need to understand is that the arrangement of words should be done in such a manner that they fit together in all the directions. This could be a pretty tricky job and hence your creativity comes into role.

- Now create an outline for the boxes around your letters using a dark ink. To give a complete look to your puzzle just as you see in newspaper, you can shade in blank boxes in between the words.
- Start numbering your puzzle. Begin from the box that is furthest top left and continue to the right all the way to the bottom in your puzzle. Make sure that each box is numbered. This numbering is important from the reference point of view
- Now write down the clues or hints that will help solving the puzzle. Use can frame some questions related to crossword puzzle. Make sure you use the numbers that correspond with your puzzle boxes. For instance, if 20-across says “Delhi”, you can write a clue that will help the player guess it, like “Capital of India.”
- Write clues for all of the words across and check that you have a clue for all the words.
- Take another graph paper and trace your puzzle on to it but without the answers. Keep a copy of the original puzzle as your master copy.
