How to Make Mini-Pizzas
Have you ever wondered why mini pizzas are so popular all over the world? Well! The trick must lie in its recipe. That is what makes pizzas one of the most exquisite foods to savor that is both healthy and fun to make. When making a mini pizza one needs to keep in mind that its base is one of the most cardinal elements of its recipe. It could be either bought out in the market pre-made or could be made by hand or for quicker results, made by using refrigerated rolls. For making the base by hand you will need strong bread flour, semolina (about 40 grams for 500 grams of flour), about two tablespoons of caster sugar, olive oil of about two and a half tablespoons, dried yeast (almost 10 grams for 500 grams of flour) and about 300 milliliters of warm water.
For pizza sauce and toppings you could either use regular pizza sauce and cheese or you could also make them at home. For making pizza sauce, you will need chopped tomatoes of about 400 grams, two tablespoons of olive oil, a tablespoon of mixed and dried tannin herbs, fresh pepper and two pinches(almost one and half tablespoons) of salt. The toppings are the most attractive elements of your pizza so you might want to style them up to your taste. You could use black olives, anchovies, caper berries, capers and mozzarella as your topping ingredients.
Instructions
- First you need to collect all the ingredients for making the base (i.e. 500 grams of flour, caster sugar about two tablespoons, olive oil, dried yeast of about 10 grams and about 300 ml of warm water.) in a mixing bowl. Add water as the last ingredient. Do not add water at once but gradually as you mix it in the bowl with the other ingredients. Knead the dough well by sprinkling a little dry flour on a hard surface and kneading the dough on it. The dough will gradually become soft and silky to touch and its time for your next step. Keep the dough in a large bowl and let it rise for about 45 minutes.
- By the time the dough is rising, you could prepare your pizza sauce by adding chopped tomatoes, one teaspoon of herbs, a bit of salt and black pepper into a saucepan. Heat the saucepan to medium to low heat and leave it until it thickens, occasionally stir to avoid any burning. It could take about 15-20 minutes.
- Your dough must be ready by now. Roll your dough into long sausage shapes and cut out small fist sized pieces. Shape each piece into a disc and roll them out in circles. Leave the circled pieces on your baking tray for about 20 minutes and let the dough rise again. While it’s rising, preheat your oven to about 230 degree Celsius.
- Place the pizza sauce on the empty base; add cheese and rest of your toppings over it. When using black olives as toppings, do not forget to take out its seeds if any. Leave the pizza to rise again for about 10 minutes and its ready to bake.
Serving Tips
When baking your mini pizza it is important that you make sure that the cheese has melted and the base is evenly cooked before considering it totally baked.
