How to Make Icing Flowers
Cake is one of the most important aspects to mark an occasion. Be it a birthday, wedding, anniversary or any special event, cake adds an extra style to the celebration. Once your cake is ready, prepare the icing with either whipped cream or butter cream. Always keep the icing spatula, tissues and a knife handy. Now here are the few steps through which you can decorate your cake with beautiful and colorful icing flowers.
1. Once you are done with the preparation of icing, fill the piping bag and fix the flower tip nozzle to the bag.
2. Now you need to position the bag at 90 degree angle on top of the cake where you want your flower to be.
3. Make sure you do not touch the cake. Place the nozzle keeping a little gap from the cake.
4. Press the icing bag in a uniform manner so that the cream comes out evenly giving the shape of a flower.
5. Do not lift the bag or stop squeezing as it will not give you the proper shape of a flower.
6. Repeat the same process for as many flowers as you need.
7. You can also add food color and make different colors of flowers.
Now to make the centre of the flower you need to change the icing nozzle.
1. Take a writing tip.
2. Attach the nozzle to the piping bag and gently press it to make a small drop. Make sure to add it in the middle of the flower to give an neat look. It is always good to use a contrasting color.
3. You can change the tips to make different types of flowers.
Apart from butter cream and whipped cream icing, you can also use sugar paste, gum paste and fondent. You can get ready made fondent, sugar paste and gum paste, however if you wish to make that, you can do it at home. To make these flowers you need fondent cutter and flower cutter.
1. Dust the surface with little bit of sugar powder.
2. Take little bit of the fondent dough and roll out on a smooth surface.
3. Take the flower cutter and press it hard on the rolled fondent so that the shape of the flower comes out.
4. You can use different designs to make a variety of flowers. You can color the fondent too.
Similarly you can buy gum paste and sugar paste and follow the same method to make icing flowers to give your cake a stylish look.
