But if you have an inclination towards art then you can very well experiment on making a homemade tattoo. In this article we shall know more about the steps that are involved in making a homemade tattoo and thereby helping you in saving a lot of money! The things that are needed for this purpose are as follows:
- Rubbing alcohol
- Safety pin
- 2 towels
- India ink
- Unscented body lotion
The process of making a homemade tattoo is as given below in the step by step guide:
You shall have to begin by boiling a safety pin in water for about 5 minutes. After having boiled it for the stipulated time, take the pin out of boiled water and cover it with rubbing alcohol. This will complete the sterilization process of the safety pin. This is a very important step as one can prevent any kind of infections that might arise later. You are also advised to wash your hands with antibacterial soap before starting to make a homemade tattoo.- After the sterilization processes are over, you have to take the safety pin and dip it in ink. Make sure that you are covering a large portion of the pin’s tip in ink while dipping it. Do not worry about any ink dripping if it is dripping towards the pin.
-
Choose your work area where you are going to make the tattoo. Take a towel and lay it on the floor of the chosen work area. Make sure that you have a damp rag handy with you in your work area. Here the towel will help in catching any ink that can drip from the safety pin and the damp rag will be used in wiping the tattooed skin after you have finished puncturing it with the pin. You have to take care about the cleanliness as homemade tattoos can be very messy in the beginning. - Now you have to begin the act of puncturing the skin with the dipped safety pin. You have to ensure that you puncture very deep enough in the skin. This is because if you puncture the dipped safety pin deeper than the epidermis then you shall have a permanent tattoo. It is therefore advised that one should puncture around quarter of an inch deep inside the epidermis. However this varies with the area of the body where you are trying to make the tattoo.
- After each puncture that you make in the skin, remember to dip the pin back into the India ink. This will help you in ensuring that each puncture gets dyed equally and with the same amount of ink. Tattoos can be very painful and therefore it is recommended that you take a break from the pain and wipe the skin with a damp rag. This will help you in getting rid of any excess ink and blood on the tattooed skin.
- After having completed with the tattoo design on the skin, you have to moisturize the tattoo by using unscented body lotion. This will help in preventing the formation of a scab too quickly. Make sure that you rub this unscented body lotion on your tattoo for about 4 times in a day. Basically, you have to apply the lotion whenever your tattoo feels tight. You can continue this for about 2 weeks.
