Frosting can make your cake look like it has just been bought from a professional baker. The things that are required for
making the frosting are as follows:
- 4 oz. butter (softened)
- 1 lb powdered sugar
- 2-4 tbsp of milk
- 2 tsp vanilla
- ½ tsp kosher salt
The method of making the traditional vanilla flavored frosting is as given below in the step by step guide:
- Take the bowl of your mixer and put in it the softened butter. Attach the whisk or the beaters to the mixers and beat the butter at medium to high speed. Continue beating the butter until it becomes light and fluffy. Make sure that you beat it for about 5 minutes.
- Take another bowl and mix in it the vanilla flavoring and salt. Lower the speed of the mixer and add this vanilla flavoring with salt to the bowl containing butter. Whip the contents together until it becomes light and fluffy.
- Now again turn the mixer to low speed and add the sugar very slowly. Let each addition moisten down before adding another. Keep on doing this process till you have added all the sugar to the mixture.
- Take the speed of the mixer to medium and add the milk. Take care that you add 1 tsp at one time. This process has to be continued till you have added 2 tbsp of milk.
- Now raise the speed of the mixer to high and whip the frosting again. Incase the frosting appears too thick then you can add 1 tsp of milk to it till it reaches the exact consistency. Your homemade frosting is ready!
