How to Make Doughnuts
Eating some yummy breakfast can make somebody’s day. Though most people prefer to buy the regular breakfast cereal and eat with milk, some light cooked breakfast can be much more healthy and tasty. One of the most favorite American breakfast which is treated as a desert is the doughnuts. Making doughnuts is not as difficult as it may appear. And be it children or elders, everyone would love to treat their taste palette with a nicely done soft melting doughnut.
You can make a larger quantity and keep it in the freezer to use later. And then all you need to do is heat it in the oven for 10 minutes in 400 degrees and serve for breakfast. It can prove less expensive and easy to make as well. You can raise a doughnut with either
leavened or yeast and some even prefer to do it with baking powder.
Kitchenware you need:
- Mixing bowls
- Mixer or a wooden spoon
- Plastic wrap
- Baking sheet
- A deep fryer
- Thermometer
- Slotted spoon
- Spatula
- Baking rack
- Cookie or doughnut cutter
Ingredients for yeast doughnuts
- Four cups of flour (keep some extra for the surface)
- 2 packages yeast (instant yeast is better)

- One and half cup of unsalted butter (Keep some extra to spread on the bowl)
- Two third cup sugar
- Three eggs
- Two teaspoons of vanilla
- Half spoon ground cinnamon (if, desired)
- Half spoon ground nutmeg (if, desired)
- One cup of warm water
- Salt to taste
- Oil
Steps to prepare
- Mix yeast and warm water and let it dissolve. Let it foam a bit before you use it.
- Add one cup of flour and yeast mixture and let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Beat the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and keep adding one egg after the other.
- Add salt, vanilla essence and cinnamon or nutmeg as per your desire and beat it well. Add the yeast mixture and the rest of the flour. Mix it slowly first and then increase the speed. Don’t leave any lumps and make the dough properly.
- After it is done cover with plastic sheet and leave for one hour to rise.
- After one hour roll the dough to about half inch thick.
- Use the doughnut cutter to take out the right sized doughnut pieces from the rolled dough.
- Heat the oil to about 360 degrees and gently put the doughnuts one by one and deep fry them. Don’t put more than three at a time so that it can expand cook well.
- Remove the doughnuts from the oil and transfer it to a baking rack.
- Let it cool down for 10 minutes and then top it with your preferred toping. You can dip it in light sugar syrup or sprinkle powdered sugar on it. Additionally you can also use chocolate topping to cover it on top.
