How to Make Donut

Making donuts could be achieved with most of the ingredients you might already possess at home. You could opt to prepare either of the two types of donuts depending upon the materials and time you are left with. If you want a quickie recipe, cake donuts could be the answer. And if you are looking for an elaborate recipe with a greater proximity to the donuts from the bakery, yeast raised donuts is the answer.
Preparation of Cake Donuts:
The ingredients you need to be ready with before making cake donuts are relatively simpler. With the basic ingredients present, there are different ways of mixing them. However, doing them systematic is helpful especially if you are a perfectionist.
Step 1: let us begin with mixing the dry items first. This involves mixing up of relative amounts of flour (2 cups) with salt (1tsp), baking powder (1tbsp) and nutmeg (a pinch to 1 tsp).
Step 2: in a separate bowl, mix sugar (half a cup) with butter (2 tbsp in liquid or semi-solid state) and gradually accelerate the speed of mixing until the sugar becomes inseparable from butter.
Step 3: beat eggs (1-2 in numbers) and add to the sugar-butter mixture.
Step 4: Add milk (half a cup) and vanilla extract to the above mixture and then mix them with the flour mixture. Stir consistently until the dough is soft and fine.
Step 5: Roll the dough mixture into long strips and mould the shape like that of donuts or cut them in a donut-cutter. In cases where the dough is too soft to mould, refrigerate for an hour and then carry on with the process of cutting.
Step 6: Heat oil in medium flame and fry or employing a deep fryer could make things easier. Remove the donuts in a set of maximum four until they are golden brown on both sides. Ensure that the oil you use to fry the dough is fresh and unused.
The basic donuts are ready. Depending upon what the kids at your home are fond of, top the donut either with cream, sugar or chocolate.
Preparation of Raised Donuts:
Although the basic recipe of cake donuts remains untouched for preparing raised donuts, however, addition of one or more ingredients and longer duration for preparation could yield spongy yummy donuts.
Step 1: Empty two packets of dry yeast in half cup of warm water. Yeast takes 5 minutes to begin their action. So leave them for the specified period.
Step 2: Mix it with the flour, salt and the required dry ingredients and leave the mixture for half an hour.
Step 3: Make the butter, sugar, vanilla, eggs and milk mixture in the procedure same as that for cake donuts.
Step 4: Get the mixtures of step 2 and step 3 together and blend them completely and let it stand for another hour in a clean plastic wrapper.
Step 5: Cut them in definite donut-like shapes and again allow it to rise for about half an hour on a floured baking sheet.
Step 6: Further steps are to be followed the same way as for cake donuts.
Your delicious raised donuts are ready for topping and favorite flavoring.
