How to Make Custard
Custard is one of the yummiest deserts that has never failed to satiate taste buds of food lovers. The smooth and creamy texture coupled with nice flavor, allures the people who have weakness for sweets. Besides being delicious and light dish, custard is also highly preferable because of the nutritious contents like eggs and milk.
Instructions
- Heat 2 cups of full-cream milk in a pan. In the meanwhile take another bowl and whisk together 2 eggs and some sugar. Now take two tbsp corn flour and mix it with ΒΌ cup of milk. Continue to blend the ingredients until all the lumps disappear. Now add this mix to the egg-sugar mixture.
- When the milk is almost boiling, take it off the fire and slowly add the egg and sugar mixture to it, while continually stirring it. Remember not to do this when the milk is still on the heat or the eggs will scramble, thereby giving you lumpy custard that will immediately start thickening.
- Once the mix is properly whisked, with no lumps, put it back on the heat (at low flame). Stir it continuously so that the dish does not burn. Cook it just for 1 to 2 minutes. Now add vanilla extract.
- Decide how thick you want the custard to be. Remember that when cooled it will be twice as thick in comparison to when it is hot, hence thicken it accordingly.
- Let it cool and if you want add tart fruit like berries, mango or apple to your custard.
