How to Make Chocolate Recipes for Candies
It is not very difficult to make chocolate candies at home. And the result can prove to be really mouth watering. Once you are proficient in making these candies, you can even ask your kids to help out. You can either use chocolate directly for making the candies or use cocoa as the base too. In fact, chocolate is only a compound made from cocoa, milk, sugar and vanilla. The proportion in which you use all these ingredients defines the look and taste of the chocolate. Method I
- The list of ingredients includes 3 cups milk, 3 cups sugar, 5 tbsp cocoa, 1 tbsp butter and 1 tsp vanilla.
- Use a saucepan to mix all the ingredients thoroughly and place it over the fire. When the mixture starts boiling, keep an eye on it till the temperature reaches about 235 degrees. Keep stirring so that it becomes like soft balls.
- Now take away the saucepan from the fire and add butter and vanilla to it. Apply butter in the moulds that you want to pour the chocolate in. Pour the mixture now into these trays and wait for it to cool down.
- Now you can keep them as such or cut into any shape you want. You can choose to have them immediately or store in an airtight container in a cool place.
Method II
- The list of ingredients in this method are ½ cup dark corn syrup, ¼ cup butter or margarine, 6 tbsp baking cocoa, ½ tsp vanilla extract, ¾ cup dry milk powder and 3 ¼ cups divided and powdered sugar.
- This time, take a saucepan and melt the butter first. Keep the saucepan on slow heat. Then put the corn syrup and cocoa with stirring. Keep heating and stirring till the mixture starts boiling.
- Then bring the saucepan down from the fire and mix the vanilla, milk powder and 2 cups of the total sugar. The mixture will begin to solidify. It should be solid enough to be kneaded easily.
- Pour in the rest of the sugar and knead the mixture for about 5 minutes. It should be stiff and yet pliable enough to be made into elongated pieces.
- Now take some portion of the kneaded chocolate and make ropes out of it. Make the ropes as thick or thin as you want. Then break off pieces of the size you want, and to give it a professional look, wrap them in waxed paper. Store in a cool place like the fridge.
