How to Make Cherry Extract
Cherry extract is a popular fruit extract that is used in making a wide variety of delicious desserts and drinks recipes. Instructions
- Gather the cherries and remove the stem and pits from each of these fruits. Add the cherries to a large glass jar with lid by filling three-quarters of the jar.
- Now pour in the vodka or any other clear liquor to the jar till the jar is completely full. Seal the jar in an airtight manner with its lid and store it in a cool and dark place. Allow the soaked cherries to remain in the same condition for a period of two weeks.
- After two weeks, transfer the vodka and cherries mixture into a mixing bowl and observe the smell emitting from the soaked cherries. If you do not smell a strong cherry aroma, you have to allow the cherries to remain soaked in the vodka for another week. But if you feel the string cherry smell, pour the liquid back into the washed jar. Use a strainer to keep the cherries out.
- The cherry extract can also be prepared without using alcohol products. If you want to avoid the usage of alcohol due to dietary or religious reasons, you can consider using a number or artificial liquid solutions. However, the recipe will produce the cherry extract with the original flavor and aroma. Further, the extract may taste too sweet and you have to add fresh lemon or lime juice to add a tart flavor to the cherry extract.
