How to Make Cheese Balls
Cheese is one of the rare ingredients which can be consumed raw as well as cooked. There are a number of dishes which use it as a secondary ingredient. But still it can be used as a prime ingredient and made into delicious cheese balls. These cheese balls can be served with crisps, crackers, or raw vegetables.
Recipe I
Ingredients
- 250 grams / 9 oz of cream cheese
- 2 gherkins
- 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley
- 1 dessertspoon of tomato sauce (ketchup)
- 1 dessertspoon of sherry
- 1 teaspoons of onion stock powder (optional)
- ½ cup of grated cheddar cheese
- ½ cup of finely chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Put the cream cheese in a middle sized bowl and let it soften.
- Then get gherkins and parsley chopped and add these to the bowl of cream cheese.
- Take the tomato sauce, sherry, and stock powder and pour these into the bowl containing cream cheese mixture.
- Add the grated cheese to the mixture and mix the ingredients thoroughly.
- Put the mixture inside a bowl and refrigerate for about one hour.
- While refrigerating the mixture, chop the walnuts finely.
- Shape the chilled cheese mixture into a ball and coat its surface with finely cut walnuts.
- The cheese ball is ready and can be served with crisps, crackers, or raw vegetables.
Recipe II
Ingredients
- 8 oz of cream cheese, softened
- 8 oz of cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons of margarine, softened
- 1/4 cup of chopped onion
- ½ cup of crushed walnuts
Instructions
- Place the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, margarine, and chopped onion in a middle sized bowl and mix the ingredients well.
- Put the mixture in refrigerator for one hour or till the mixture e is ready to be shaped into a ball.
- Shape the mixture into a ball and roll it over the crushed almonds.
Recipe III
Ingredients
- 1/4 Cup of flour
- 3/4 Cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 1 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of Dijon
- 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
- 3/4 Cup of nutritional yeast
- 3 tablespoon of Olive oil
- 1 (8 ounce) Can of cream cheese
- Chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Put a dry frying pan on the stove at a medium heat and place the flour into it. Keep cooking the flour till its color becomes a bit brownish. While cooking, keep stirring the flour to cook evenly.
- Whisk in the cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, Dijon, yeast, and water t to the frying pan. Keep stirring the mixture till it becomes very thick.
- Remove the pot from heat and add olive oil to the hot mixture. Allow the mixture to cool till it becomes barely warm.
- Add the cream cheese to the barely warm mixture, and refrigerate till the mixture is completely chilled.
- Divide the chilled mixture into small pieces, and shape these pieces into balls.
- Roll the cheese balls on the chopped nuts.
- The vegetarian cheese balls are ready to be served.
