But the homemade butter provides a flavor that is more natural and fresher. With the approaching Christmas season, you can make butter at home with some simple steps and enhance the taste of your Christmas cake. You can easily churn the butter from cream using a mixer, blender, or food processor. But the appliance has to agitate the cream for destabilizing the globules contained in cream.

  • normal or heavy whipping cream
  • 1 Jar
  • 1 measuring device (optional)

Instructions

  1. Before making the butter, you have to measure the exact amount of butter you intend to get. Normally, by using 1 cup of heavy cream as input, you will get about of half cup of butter after completion of the process. So base on your requirement you have to get the exact amount of cream required to get your desired amount of butter. After getting the exact amount of cream, simply pour it into a jar. You will not need any other ingredient to make butter and also ensure that you add noting for flavoring to the cream.
  2. Put the cap on the jar carefully and ensure that it remains in a tight manner. Shake the jar for some time without any interruption. You have to shake it continuously for generation of butter from the cream. During the shaking process, take off the lid and check the inside of the jar once in every three minutes. You can stop the shaking, after seeing the consistency in the jar is nearly done you can see the whipped cream.
  3. As you keep shaking the jar, the cream will become thicker. Also, you will feel it hard to shake the jar around. So it is better to hold the jar from apart closer to the lid, preferable the neck. Use a stabbing motion back and forth, and shake the jar downwards to keep the cream evenly distributed. After shaking for some time, you can open the lid and see the butter formed inside the pot. The butter will spate itself from the buttermilk. Strain out the liquid in small amount at a time. Store the liquid separately in a pot which you can drink as tasty buttermilk as well as use it for baking pancakes and biscuits.
  4. When the entire amount of buttermilk is strained out and separated from the butter, the butter will remain in the jar. Transfer the butter to a storage container and put it in the fridge for becoming a bit harder. The hard butter is easy to scoop and spread. Now you can use the homemade butter for making additional dishes.
