Even those who fuss over milk can drink a glass of smoothie without any halt. You can even serve banana smoothies on a hot summer evening.

Banana smoothie is a pretty easy recipe that takes only a few minutes to make. But the trick is to add your own specific secret ingredient to add flavor to the drink and make it even more delicious. Like any other recipe making a banana smoothie also begins with choosing the ingredient. You must make sure you get properly ripe robust banana that are not over or less ripe. Perfectly yellow skinned ripe banana would make a great smoothie.

Ingredients:

  • Fresh and ripe banana
  • Ice cubes
  • Sugar or low calorie sweetener
  • Honey
  • Orange juice
  • Pineapple juice
  • Nutmeg powder
  • Cinnamon
  • Yoghurt or milk
  • Vanilla extract or vanilla ice cream

Remember all these ingredients do not go together in a single banana smoothie. You need to choose the added flavors from the list to make different types of flavors of banana smoothie.

Steps to prepare banana smoothie

  • Peel the bananas and cut them into three or four pieces. Roll them in a greaseproof paper and place it in the freezer. Though this step is optional, this would make sure the bananas are perfectly robust when you put it in the blender for a much neater blending.
  • Take the ice cubes and crush them with an ice crusher.
  • Take the blender and add sugar to make a perfect powder. You can also use sugar powder for a faster preparation
  • Add yoghurt or milk, banana, vanilla extract or vanilla ice cream, crushed ice, dash of cinnamon or honey and orange juice or nutmeg or pineapple juice and blend it well.
  • Once the paste is smooth, you can pour it into the glasses
  • If you want to make the smoothie even more chilled, you can place the paste in the freezer for about 15 minutes to half and hour before you serve it.
  • Once you pour it into the glass, you can decorate it with a dash of chopped dry fruits. Your drink is now ready to be served.

Similarly, you can add a few sliced strawberries for added taste. For tropical smoothies, you can change the fruits and make a great drink for your summer afternoon cocktail parties.
