How to Make an Origami Dragon
Origami is actually an art form which involves the folding of paper to form various shapes. These shapes can range from simple ones like boxes to very intricate ones like birds and horses. The best and the most challenging origami designs is that of a dragon. Although it is a bit difficult to make an origami dragon but the final result is awesome and worth the effort put in. • Make sure that the paper that you choose for making the origami dragon is foil paper. Also ensure that the folding is started with the foil side facing down so that the final result features the foil. Before you start making and completing any major folds, you have to pre-fold the foil paper wherever it is required. This is done to ensure that you do not miss a fold when the need arises while making the origami dragon.
• You have to now start making the bird base. The act of folding the origami paper for making the bird base is actually the most preliminary and important folds in the art of origami. The bird base forms the base or the foundation on which one can make various animals and birds in origami. Therefore this fold of bird base is very crucial and important in the making of an origami dragon.
• The upper corners of the foil paper have to be now crimp-folded downwards towards the bottom that has the longer spokes. The two folds have to be made evenly on either side and then pressed firmly. After having done this, the center of the top fold has to be sunk in towards the crimp-folds that you have just made.
• Take care to ensure that the wings of the origami dragon are positioned just above the legs, tail and head of the dragon. It is at this time that should ensure that the jaw of the origami dragon is also crimp-folded upwards into position. The legs of the origami dragon can be made by creating double rabbit ears. These double rabbit ears have to be bent towards the front and also to the back of the origami dragon.
• Now is the turn of creating mountain and valley folds on the origami dragon’s tail and wings. Doing this will ensure that the wings of your origami dragon do not bend and it also creates a three dimensional look for your origami dragon. Although there are several other ways of making an origami dragon, the one which is mentioned here is the most suitable and apt for beginners in this art of origami. After you have obtained a foothold on this art, you can try out several other ways of making an origami dragon. Do not pull the paper too hard while trying to fold it. This can cause the paper to rip off. Also ensure that your hands are clean before you start making various shapes of origami design.
