Steps to make a quilt

You can search for a pattern on the internet. There are plenty of ideas available as well as you can find patterns at the nearest fabric stores.
When you choose fabric, you must choose those that are strong and won’t fade or shrink else the time that you spend in making a quilt would look futile. So hand pick fabric that are strong as well as give a soft feel against your hands. You must make sure you like to touch that fabric because you are going to wrap it when you feel cold and if you like the fabric, then you are going to enjoy the feel of it.
The next thing that you need to buy is the batting. Batting is going to make your quilt softer and warmer. It must be pretty think so that you can keep it for a long time. Along with that you would also need some lining material that you are going to put against the batting as a support.
Now take the fabric you have collected for making a quilt and you can cut the fabric into similar sized squares that you are going to sew together.
Now you need to pick similar number of squares of each fabric that you are going to use for your quilt.
You can start sewing the squares with about one forth inch hem that is ideal. You can use a sewing machine to sew the squares. Once you can got the top fabric ready, you are ready to hold the support layer and start sewing.
You can take a bit more lining material so that you can tuck in the sides with the batting comfortably.
You must take the lining and the top fabric and place it one top of each other in such a manner that when you have sewed it completely you can pull it upside down and you would get the top fabric visible out wards while the support or the lining material is placed inside. Also the sewed borders and inside. To do this you can place the top two layers and place lining material on both sides. You need to sew it on all sides leaving a small or a two feet opening to place the batting in.
Once you have done it, you can turn it upside down and you are ready to place the batting in
After you fill in the batting, you are ready to sew all three layers together to sew.
You can make smaller yet stronger stitches that cover the quilt completely. You can sew in following the pattern to get the perfect look.

You can even take a single color fabric and cut different shapes and attach to the quilt to make it look even interesting. You can write names or make flowers and leaves as you like or use your creativity to do in a new style.
