How to Make a Paper Rose
Paper roses have been around us in special occasions and ceremonies for quite some time now. They have really grown out of crepe papers and pipe cleaners and are able to establish themselves as beautiful pieces of art provided you are willing to spare a bit of time. You can set up an assembly line process that will help you in generating a bouquet of roses that can be just as wonderful as the real ones. This article will deal with the making
mechanism of paper roses. The things that are needed for the purpose are as follows:
- Pencil
- 8 coffee cone filters
- Rose template
- Scissors
- Corsage pins
- 16 gauge floral pins
- Floral tape
- Small paint brush
- Watercolors
- Quick drying glue
- Bamboo skewer
The method of making paper roses is as mentioned below in the step by step guide:
- You have to begin by printing the petals and the leaf templates and then trace them onto the eight coffee cone filters. Incase you want to make more than one rose, then you can keep on cutting the petals and leaves until you have the number of roses that you desire. You can see that each petal is numbered on the template which becomes important later for using the petals in order.
- Now you shall have to cut the floral wire into pieces of 12 to 18 inches long. Remember that you will need 1 piece of wire per rose. You can also have a pearl center in your rose. This can be done by using a pearl tipped corsage pin in the center and then wrap the wire.
-
Start by holding the first petal type and then poke the wire through the middle of the petals. Keep in mind that petal numbers 1 to 3 are each two petals but when they are opened, they make four petals. You shall have to insert the wire through the crease area. In order to secure the filter petal to the wire, you can use floral tape for wrapping the petal around the wire. - Now hold petal number 2 and wrap it around the flower bud by poking the wires through one set of petals. After that you have to spilt the crease area open and then wrap the two petals around the bud again.
- Continue with this process of poking and wrapping with the third petal type. Make sure to secure the petals with floral tape.
- Now open the fourth petal type so that you have one long line of petals. Start wrapping them around the bud and secure it with floral tape but make sure that you use one layer of tape or else your flower base will get too fat.
- Start wrapping the petals around the flower from numbers 5 to 8. Be careful to overlap each petal a little. This will make your rose appear fuller.
- You can also pull the petals apart to create a full bloom. Now you can color the petals with the water color of your choice but be careful to use such a color for the petals that shall make the paper rose appear natural.
- Your paper roses are ready! You can either place them in a vase or can present them to your friend on an occasion.
