How to Make a Cobb Salad How to Make a Cobb SaladYou can make a delicious Cobb salad by purchasing fresh ingredients from the grocery store or farmer’s market, or by using the leftover veggies and dishes stored in your refrigerator. Further, you have options to make the salad on your own and serve these to your guests with a variety of breads or allow your guests to make their own Cobb salad by picking up the toppings arranged inside individual bowls. But you can make the salad by spending only a few minutes and entertain your guests by serving the popular and quintessential American salad.

Recipe I

Ingredients

  • 6 bacon slices
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 head of iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 3 cups of chopped, cooked chicken meat
  • 2 tomatoes, seeded and chopped
  • 3/4 cup of blue cheese, crumbled
  • 1 avocado – peeled, pitted and diced
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1 (8 ounce) bottle Ranch-style salad dressing

Instructions

  1. Place the three eggs inside a saucepan and pour in cold water till the eggs are completely covered with water. Put the saucepan on heat and bring the water to a boil. Cover the saucepan and remove it from heat. Allow the eggs to stand in hot water for about 10 to 12 minutes. Remove the boiled eggs from the saucepan and make it cool. Once the boiled eggs are cold get these peeled and chopped.
  2. Place the 6 bacon slices in a deep skillet of large size and place it on heat. Cook the bacon slices over medium high heat till these turn brown. Drain and crumble the bacon slices and keep it aside.
  3. Now divide the shredded iceberg lettuce and arrange these evenly on the individual plates.
  4. Now divide the chopped cooked chicken meat, seeded and chopped tomatoes, chopped boiled eggs, crumbled blue cheese, cooked bacon, peeled, pitted and diced avocado, and chopped green onions evenly and arrange these in a row by putting on top of the lettuce arranged earlier on individual plates.
  5. Drizzle the salad with Ranch-style salad dressing and serve these to your guests.

Recipe II

Ingredients

  • 2 heads of lettuce
  • 1 chicken breast, cut into 1 inch chunks.
  • 2 roasted beets, chopped
  • 1/4 bag of baby carrots, chopped
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 4 hard boiled eggs, diced
  • 4 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup of crumbled blue cheese
  • Ranch dressing

Instructions

  1. Add the bacon slices to a medium sized skillet and cook over medium heat till these become crisp. Remove and discard the bacon from the skillet by leaving about 2 teaspoons of grease. Crumble the cooked bacon slices once there are cool.
  2. Season the chicken chunks with salt and pepper. Add the chicken chunks to the pan and cook over medium heat. Transfer the cooked chicken to a plate and allow it to cool.
  3. In the meantime, wash and dice the baby carrots, avocado, and hard boiled eggs. Arrange all these along with the chopped roasted beets and crumbled blue cheese by putting in individual bowls. Also, arrange the lettuce evenly by putting on individual plates.
  4. Now you can invite your guests and allow them to make their own cob salad by picking up ingredients from the arranged bowls. Otherwise, you can put these topping on top of the arranged lettuce and drizzle with the Ranch-style salad dressing and serve these to your guests.
