The teacher is a guide and a mentor to its student. This noble profession being a dream job, often faces the shortage of skilled person in the field.

As every institute demand the best mentor for their students who can mould the student’s mind and fill them up with knowledge, it is quite difficult, with so much competition to get yourself placed in to the field of teaching profession. Apart from teaching skills the institutes also look for special abilities of the applicant like leadership qualities, team work, maintaining discipline, co-curricular activities, and computer knowledge to keep their students upgraded with the latest technology, which best meet the institute’s demand to recruit a teacher who can provide their students with best form of knowledge and upbringing. So here are few tips you should check out while applying for a teaching job that may increase your chances of selection:

1) Educational qualification:

To make yourself eligible for a job in teaching it is very much important to hold a graduate degree. It is necessary because the degree shows the area of your specialization.

2) B.Ed (Bachelor in Education) / M.Ed (Master in education)

Most of the institutes with teaching jobs look for the candidate who have a proper training on teaching which is awarded through a degree in B.Ed or M.Ed. Such candidates have more chances of selection as compared to others. Before pursuing this training from any institute, make sure you are pursuing it through recognized universities which have affiliation from National Council of Educational Research and Training or as applicable by the laws governing the specific country.

3) Computer skills:

The applicant should have some computer skills. If one do not have any programming knowledge then at least he should know the basics like Word, Power point, excel etc.

4) Experience:

If you have any past teaching experience, mention it in your resume. In teaching jobs experience really matters a lot. An institute always prefers a candidate with high teaching experience. Sometimes it does not matter if the candidate was under temporary or permanent basis.

5) Resume:

Make an impressive resume which shows your talent in the required field. A proper resume is the mirror of your character, your qualification and your talent. Mention any extracurricular activities if you have like sports, music, dance drama etc because now a days teaching jobs are not only about teaching skills but also about co-curricular activities too .

6) Planning and Rehearsal: This is the final stage where you must prepare yourself. Practice some frequently asked questions in teaching interviews like why you need this job, your idea about teaching, how will you maintain discipline in the class room, how much salary do you expect etc. These questions must be smartly answered and thus they can increase the chance of your selection.
