How to Get Rid Of Dry Skin
Winters can be very harsh on the skin. It can leave your skin dry, chapped and listless but winter is not the only reason for one to suffer from dry skin. Some times use of wrong cosmetics or harsh soaps can also cause dry skin. Dry skin results from the lack of moisture in the skin or you can say when the skin loses the natural oil, the skin becomes dry. While many often ignore dry skin issues with a cold cream or moisturizer, the issue can worsen if proper care is not taken in the early stage. It can lead to painful chapped skin that itches and even gives a burning sensation.
Even the most expensive moisturizer doesn’t seem to bring the glow back to your skin. No matter how much make up you wear, you can never really hide a chapped skin. So the best way is to be careful to the skin problems and find the root cause before you take up a solution. May be the issue lies in your food habits or the skin care products you use! As we already know the cause of dry skin is no doubt lack of moisture or oil in the skin. So the best possible way is to try and retain the moisture in the skin so that it doesn’t tend to get dry. This can be done with various methods.
- Understand the type of your skin. If you have an oily skin you may not have dry skin issues but if you have a normal or dry skin then you can actually tend to have dryer skin due to seasonal changes. If you have a normal or patchy skin that is half dry and half oily, then you have to be even more careful. You can try coca butter or almond oil on the dry areas sparingly.
- If you have a completely dry skin then you can use little more oil on the skin and massage it for a few minutes so that the skin absorbs the oil. You can even try grape seed oil or coconut oil depending on the dryness of your skin.
-
If you do not want oils then buy a moisturizer and apply it after you take your nightly shower or before you go to bed. Most people usually use moisturizer during the day but forget to use it in the night. But as the temperature reduces at night, the skin tends to get drier. - Those with extremely dry skin should never use soap on their body or face. The best way is to get a shower gel and face wash that doesn’t have soap content. Once you shower yourself you must immediately use the cold cream or moisturizer. Some people even prefer to use oil while still having the shower, this way the body retains some water, which is good for maintaining natural moisture in the skin.
- Scrubbing your skin is a good way to get rid of the dry skin. So use a good scrub once a week. For a homemade scrub, you can use sugar and coconut oil on the skin and scrub lightly.
- Medicinally Aloe Vera gel is also a good way to get rid of dead skin. If you have a normal skin that has gone dry in winter, you can use tea tree oil as well.
- When you move out, remember to use a sunscreen lotion, even though you are not going to stay under the sun for a longer time. They also help in retaining the skin moisture.
Finally make sure you take lot of fruits in your diet so that your skin glows with health.
