How to Get Rid of Acne How to Get Rid of AcneYou can have acne at any time during your life and at any place on the body. But usually the problem is more pronounced during the teens and it mainly affects the face. This is very unfortunate as teenage is the time when you are vehemently concerned with the texture and pallor of your skin and your appearance in general. It hurts you the most to be sporting acne on your face when your friends are having a glowing skin. You wonder why you had to be so unfortunate to get acne and you wish there would be a way you could get rid of them. Although you can never be sure that acne will not return again, but there a few ways in which you can get rid of acne.

1. First of all, take an inventory of your cosmetics. Find out if they are oil-based. Since oil is the main cause of acne, it is better that you avoid using makeup and any other cosmetics which are oil-based. Reduce the cooking oil that you eat too. By reducing oil in every aspect of your life, you will be able to control the acne. Try to eat a balanced diet with plenty of water, fresh vegetables and fruits.
2. Just like you controlled oil, make an effort to avoid the cleansing products for the skin. While you may be lured by the tall claims of these products to get rid of the oil from your face, nourish the skin and take away all the dead cells, they may in fact have a deteriorating effect on the skin and create rough patches. Your sebaceous glands may be affected which will worsen your acne problem. The facial scrubs are not very favorable for the people having acne.
3. The main need is to keep the skin clean and healthy. For doing this, you may need to take a shower twice daily and use a mild soap for cleaning yourself. You can consult a dermatologist for the right kind of soap to use. Since it may not always be possible to avoid the use of oils altogether, you have to cleanse yourself regularly.
4. You will surely be tempted to play around with the acne on your face. Sometimes you do this without meaning to. But you should remember that it can be very dangerous to poke or pinch the acne because this will only lead to blemishes on the skin. You may also damage the sebaceous glands and lead to infection around the acne areas.
5. It is always better to take the help of a dermatologist if the problem gets out of hand. Although there are many acne lotions in the market which claim to reduce the acne dramatically, yet you should take advice before buying any. The right kind of acne lotion can help in destroying the bacteria and enhancing the process of healing. Most of these lotions have sulfur, salicylic acid or resorcinol.
6. If the few natural treatments of acne do not provide any help, then you have to take medical advice. You will be given lotions which contain retinoic acid and adapalene. Being rich in Vitamin A, they work to cleanse the skin and get rid of the dead cells. A mild antibiotic cream may also be prescribed for use.
7. If your case is really severe, you will have to take higher antibiotics to control the infection. But this should only be used as the last resort, as it leads to scarring and produces many side effects. Depression and rectal bleeding may occur which can really worsen your health.
8. Women can use oral contraceptives to manipulate the secretion of certain hormones which cause acne. This is also used as the last straw when nothing else works.

Some people resort to surgery too but they are very few in number. In all probability, the acne problem can be sorted out by using the few natural methods described above. But you must not allow the problem to get out of hand but get it treated in the initial stage itself.
