How to Get Rid of A Hickey
Are you embarrassed of your hickey, the red mark on your neck or other portions of the skin? You really don’t need to bother. It is a temporary mark on the skin that is caused by excessive kissing or sucking. It can be removed as it is a superficial and temporary mark that occurs when some blood vessels break open beneath your skin.
Though these hickey marks take at least 4 to 5 days, you can speed up the process by following certain instructions. To ensure you do not have to face any embarrassment due to the hickey marks, simply adopt any of the following methods and see the difference.
Steps
- One of the best ways of getting rid of dark hickey is to apply some cold agents. You can take some ice cubes and wrap them in a piece of cloth. Now place it on the hickey mark. Ensure that you not rub the cloth or press it against your skin too hard because that may further cause more bruising on the affected area. Moreover also avoid placing the ice cubes directly on the skin as it may cause ice burn on your skin.
- Apart from removing the marks with some cooling agent, you can also achieve effective results by applying some heat to the affected surface. Take a clean cloth and dip it in lukewarm water. Now you can place it on the spot for few minutes. You can continue this process for 3 times a day to achieve quicker result.

- You can smoothly rub the surface area with soft bristled brush. Make sure that the up and down motion is done gently and without any force. If you rub it too much it will worsen the case and leave some red scratches around the mark.
- Prepare a mixture of baking powder, water and salt. Apply the paste on the hickey. It will fade away the hickey marks that will finally disappear in few days. You should apply this in the morning before shower and at night before going to bed. It is one of the effective methods that yields result within short time.
- If you do not have the time and want to remove the marks immediately, you can make use of a concealer. Though it will not remove your hickey but will definitely hide it for short duration. You can apply a shade that is lighter than your skin tone. Ensure that the concealer is finely applied all over the affected area so that the spot does not draw attention.
- You can also hide your hickey by covering it. You can go for long-sleeved dress or high-necks or scarf, depending upon the area that has to be hidden. If the exposed area cannot be covered with your outfit then you just cover up the red spot with a bandage. But be prepared to answer the questions that others may ask you about your injury.
These are some of the time-tested methods that have been applied by many. If you also want to make your hickey disappear completely just go for any of the above methods and see how it works for you.
