How to Get Facebook Text Messages

Facebook is popular among many people due to the various mobile options offered by the network. You can use the mobile options to update your status, message your friends, or send a poke even when you are on the go. If you are already using Facebook through a computer, you can select a few simple steps to register yourself for the mobile services and get Facebook text messages on your cell phone.

Instructions

1. Facebook has included various options to access the popular network through your cell phones. If you are a registered user, you can login to the mobile services and get Facebook text messages. But if you are not a registered member to the network, you will be required to sign up to Facebook and avail the services.
2. Open your web browser and type in “http://www.facebook.com/mobile/” in the address bar. Click on the Enter key post keying in the mentioned URL. Enter your email address and password used at the time of initial registration and log in to the Facebook services.
3. If you are not able to find your mobile service provider in the drop down list, you can still use the “Learn more about Facebook Text Messages” link appearing under the “Facebook text Messages” section appearing below the page. It will preview you various actions that can be performed using your cell phone. You can update status, message your friends, or send a poke on the go, through your cell phone. It will display you demo for each action, based on the option on which you have clicked.
4. Click on the View Instructions button appearing below the label “Go to 0.facebook.com to use Facebook without data charges. Set up your phone:” A pop up window will be displayed, asking you to select your country and the carrier providing mobile services to your phone. Facebook has mentioned that it does not provide support to the mobile service providers, which are not displayed as part of the drop down box.
5. You can see an additional pop-up window asking you to send a text message to a number provided in the screen. It will deliver a message to Facebook at a normal charge of sending a text message. Click on the “Next” button to move ahead with activating the service.
6. Facebook will send you a code in response to the text message sent by you. So check the message inbox of your cell phone and enter the exact code in the pop-up window. Click on the “Confirm” button to activate Facebook mobile services.
7. After activating the mobile services, you have further options to set the preference settings for the messages you are going to receive from Facebook. You can set the number of messages you want to receive on your cell phone or receive unlimited messages by turning the text message mode on. Based on your current mobile plan, you can set these options to regulate the messaged received through Facebook. Click on the “Confirm” button to save the settings and receive the text messages as per your own preference.
