How to Fill a Dunhill Lighter
Dunhill lighters are the very first one-handed lighter models and use the luxurious butane gas. Some people even consider these butane gas lighters as antique and love to use it over a long period of time. So if you intend to use it over a long period of time, you have to keep filling the lighter with butane gas at regular intervals to make it fuel the lighter flame. Dunhill lighter fuel is exclusively recommended by the lighter manufacturer to refill this brand of lighters. When you are filling a Dunhill lighter you have to be very careful and follow the exact steps as the lighter will be damaged if something goes wrong. Also it is better too use hand gloves to save your hand from the lighter fluid that may come out while filling.
Instructions
1. You ensure that the butane tank has bled the air fully before starting the refilling. Bleeding will also release all the compressed air left in the tank after the butane has been used up. Also if all the air is not bled out of the lighter’s fuel tank, that will displace the amount of butane fuel the lighter can hold. Bleeding the lighter tank also ensures that there is a perfect balance between the butane and air which is required for perfect functioning of the lighter. You turn the lighter upside down to bleed the butane from the lighter and depress the refill valve on your lighter using a small screwdriver. This will let the air and butane escape from your lighter. You be careful while bleeding and keep the lighter tank away from any flame to avoid any mishap.
2. After bleeding the air and butane, hold the lighter upside down with keeping the cap closed. Go to the base of the lighter and locate the slotted filler valve cap. Remove the screw using a small screw driver or knife and uncap the filter valve. Then remove the cap from the lighter simply by rotating it.
3. Now bring out the fuel refill and press its nozzle into the valve aperture of the lighter. Ensure that the nozzle enters as much as possible into the valve aperture. Then the liquid fuel will start flowing by entering into the lighter. You can hear some sound which will indicate the entry of liquid fuel into the lighter.
4. Don’t move either the refill or the lighter and keep both in the same position. You will know the lighter is full when your finger will touch few drops of liquid fuel flowing out of the lighter valve. Now remove the refill can from the lighter. Replace the cap and skew it back to the lighter. But ensure that the lighter is screwed back properly before you start testing the lighter.
