How to Edit Personal Information on Facebook

There are many social network users, who do not like to share their personal details at the time of registering for the website. After using the social networking website over a period of time, they take a decision about updating their original and current personal information. Facebook allows a set of easy and simple options to edit the initial profile by filling up a set of edit information forms. These forms will display the existing values, which you can edit or supplement with additional information and details.

Instructions

Open Facebook on a web browser, and log in using your email address and password. You will be taken to your home page. Click on the Profile link appearing at the top right corner of the page. Now you will be redirected to your profile page.
Click on the Edit Profile button appearing at the right corner of the page. You can now edit your existing profile in the Edit Profile page to which you are redirected to. The page allows users to edit the information grouped under specific categories like Basic Information, Profile Picture, Featured People, Education and Work, Philosophy, Arts and Entertainment, Sports, Activities and Interests, and Contact Information.
If you want to edit your basic details, click on the Basic Information link. You will be displayed with a form with options to change details like current city, hometown, and gender, interested in men or women, and languages known. There will also be a text box appearing with the label About Me. It can be used by you to mention a brief bio or personal description. Click on the Save Changes button to update the new information entered by you after doing the modification.
There is also option to change your current profile picture. Click on the Profile Picture link and click on the Browse button. You can see a file upload dialog box for uploading the new images from your local drives. It also allows you to take a picture through the web camera of your laptop or desktop compute by clicking on the button Take a Picture. Once the photo is uploaded online, the same will appear on the profile page of Facebook.
You can change your education and work related information by clicking on the link labeled with the same. In this edit form, you can add or edit your employer, college or university, and high school. It allows you to add past employment details as well as the year spent at the school or college.
Click on the Activities and Interests link to update or edit your current data. You can delete the existing activities and interests list and even add new ones to the existing set of values. After changing the existing details, click on the Save Changes button to add the updated information entered by you after doing the modification.
Your contact information is an inseparable part of your Facebook profile and need to be exact and updated for making it easier for your friends to communicate with you. The edit Contact Information form will allow you to edit your email address, phone numbers, current mailing address and website. After typing in the new values click on the Save Changes button to add the updated information entered by you after doing the modification.
