How to Dry Brush Skin to Remove Cellulite

How to Dry Brush Skin to Remove Cellulite How to Dry Brush Skin to Remove CelluliteCellulite refers to the toxins deposited on the skin in layers of subcutaneous fat and fibrous tissues. Cellulite formation happens when the body’s metabolism rate slows down, resulting in accumulation of waste and fat deposits. These deposits get stored inside the fat cells and appear in the form of cellulite in the upper layers of the skin. A number of factors influence cellulite formation, including poor diet, sedimentary lifestyle, smoking, hormonal changes and aging. Women in particular are prone to cellulite deposition on the thighs and hip areas.

A number of spa and other cosmetic treatments are available to help you get rid of cellulite, but they are expensive and time consuming. Dry brushing your skin is one of the most effective ways to fight cellulite. It is easy to do, does not pinch your pocket and can be done in the comfort of your home. Dry brushing does not requite much time and you can easily include it as part of your morning routine. The below tips will help you learn how to dry brush your skin to remove cellulite.

  1. The only equipment you need for dry brushing is a soft bristle brush, something like a loofah sponge. A body brush will also do. It is better to buy a brush having a handle so that you can access all parts of your body. These brushes come quite cheap and can be found in any cosmetic or chemist shop. For brushing your face, you will require another brush with much softer bristles.
  2. Dry brush your skin only when it is dry. The best time to do it would be before a shower. You can dry brush your skin starting with the feet and then move upwards or you can work from the top towards your feet. For convenience, it is preferable to start from the bottom and then move up.
  3. Brush the top and bottom of your feet five times. Then brush your ankles and move slowly towards the knees. Legs must be brushed in a circular motion. Move to the thighs and dry brush the front and back areas. Repeat the same process for the other leg.
  4. Hips and thighs are generally the major areas of cellulite deposit. Concentrate on these areas for a longer time. Dry brush your waist, stomach, chest and back areas sideways in a back and forth direction. Move to your hands and arms. The neck and back area should be brushed back and forth.
  5. Take a shower once you finish dry brushing. The shower will wash off the dead skin cells. Apply a moisturizer or some shea butter after your bath.
  6. Apart from targeting cellulite by removing accumulated toxins, dry brushing improves the body’s blood circulation, tightens skin pores, stimulates the sweat glands and helps the immune system.
  7. Your daily dry brushing session should take no more than fifteen minutes. Dry brush regularly once a day and continue the treatment for about 4-5 months to notice visible difference in your cellulite prone areas.
