How to Draw the Skeletal System
The skeletal system is the basic human structure and thus it holds a lot of significance. Drawing a skeleton is not something easy. You need to have a good sense of proportion for this. However, it is best that you simplify all the structures before drawing them on the paper.
- You have to take the help of simple lines and shapes in order to draw the skeletal system. First, you need to draw the framework and for this you need to have a look at the picture and then make a calculation of how you can start with the sketching. You have to start with the skull, then you have to deal with several parts like chest, upper arms, groin, waist, knees, lower arms, hands and feet.
- First, you need to draw the eyes and nose of the skeleton. In case you are looking for a menacing skeleton. You need to have a perfect angling of the eyes. You can even make the skeleton look soft with cute looks. For the nose you have to make use of a triangle. However, the nose is the least interesting part of the skeleton. You have to concentrate on other parts as well.
- You have to make a round shape for the skull. You can add a few teeth just below the nose. Then, you can draw the lower jaw just by making use of three simple lines.
- Just down the skull or the head, you have to draw some small squares in line vertically. This is going to be the backbone of the skeleton. You have to be quite serious about the images and formations. Drawing a skeleton is not easy and at the same time it can be great fun. Draw a kind of a turned 8 just below the backbone. This is for the pelvis. The steps are simple and a bit cartoonish and in this way you can make a child learn and understand better.
- Next, it is time to draw rectangles with rounded edges just at the top of the backbones. This is meant for the collarbones and they are also drawn below the pelvis for the femur. Next, it is time for you to draw circles for the elbows and the knees. The way you are doing the sketch sounds childish, but this is indeed a good way for kids to start.
- Next, you have to build a connection between the knees, the elbows and the femur and they should all connect to the collarbones. Once the connection is made the structure is sure to look more perfect. For the shins and forearms you have to make use of more straight lines. These lines will ultimately end forming the feet and the hands. These shapes are mostly rectangular and they can make the image look more vivid and meaningful. You just have to make sure that what you are drawing has to look like a skeleton.
- You must do proper shading for the eyes. Make sure to color the pupils as well. The structuring of the skeleton has to be done quite wisely, making the best use of proportion and intellect. This is a good way to make a child learn the basics of a skeletal system.
The prime structuring of the skeleton is quite tough. You need to have lots of artistic and proportional sense for this. In case when you are trying to make a novice understand what is a skeletal system all about then this sketch is going to be a very good tool for the purpose.
