How to Draw Stuff
Drawing comes naturally to some while some have to learn to draw and develop their interest into a lucrative career. You can begin by looking at other people’s drawing first. You can learn how to draw stuff with some special help that will turn you into an artist quickly.
Get a set of pencils with different lead points. Look at books that show you how to form the basic structure for drawing cartoons characters, cars, flowers or even manga.
Learn the structure first. Make a study of where the bends and joints are occurring and mark them on paper.
Next begin to visualise your piece of drawing before you begin to draw. Imagine what you want to draw and how you will make a skeleton first and then add the details.
You can start by practicing by looking at cartoon strips in newspapers.
Do not give up if your drawing proportions do not show up exactly the way they are in the reference before you.
Make a rough skeleton, and then draw the shape. Next make the lines deeper. When you begin to draw, use a light pencil with a soft hand so that your paper does not show the
erased marks.
Always look for basic shapes in stuff. Does the car have a semi-circle body, is it square or rectangular. Defining shapes makes it easier to draw. Once you have the shape in order you can add other elements.
You have to recognise the details too. Are the eyes bigger than the nose or the nose the biggest part on the face? Does the character have a big belly? Just changing the direction of the eyes can change the look and expression of the character. An inverted bracket can mean a glum face whereas a normal bracket can mean a smile. Make use of such elements to make your drawing come down to basic form.
Once you have the basics in place the details can be done easily. You can draw anything from a dolphin to a Simpson’s character or even a south park character or just a boy or girl too.
Now that you know the basics of drawing stuff, gather your references, study them and let the artist in you show up.
